Mental Health Awareness Month at Atlantic Station

In 2020, 21% of U.S. adults experienced mental illness in some capacity (source). The odds that you or someone you know have been affected by mental illness is high. It’s time to end the stigma!

At Atlantic Station, we strive to support our community’s wellbeing. Whether we’re providing gathering spaces and free events or keeping the district safe and clean so our community can move through the space freely, supporting social, physical and mental wellness has always been at the forefront of who we are and what we do.

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month in May, we are debuting a few programs for our residents, tenants, and guests to enjoy. Remember, you are not alone!

Mental Health Resources

Our team rounded up our favorite mental health resources, from local Atlanta organizations doing great work in the community to our favorite soothing videos and calming YouTube channels.

Resources fall into one of the following categories: Atlanta-specific, videos, phone apps, therapy, and everything else. Visit the webpage here!

Mental Health Walking Route

Walking became a big part of everyone’s lives in 2020 when there was little else to do. As it turns out, walking is a great form of exercise and can work wonders to clear your head during a busy workday!

The next time you stop by Atlantic Station, embark on our curated walking route, which brings you to the most soothing locations in the district. You’ll finish the walk feeling refreshed and inspired.

Lavender Love

Lavender flowers represent silence, serenity and calmness. Their smell is intoxicating, and lavender is even recognized as a natural sleep aid (source)! To promote a sense of peace in the district, we planted lavender in flower beds around Atlantic Station. Be sure to stop and take a whiff while on your mental health walk!

Can’t get enough lavender? Visit Concierge throughout the month of May and take home a packet of complimentary lavender seeds.

Mental Health Playlist

According to researchers, music is another powerful tool for changing your mood and mindset, as it has the ability to reduce stress and improve focus (source). With the help of our community on Instagram, our team carefully selected tunes from artists like Hozier, Doja Cat and everyone in between, all of which were chosen to help you boost your mood and find your center during times of high stress. Listen on Spotify here or on Apple Music here.
