Professional beach volleyball is back in Atlanta! The Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) announced that it will kick off its 2021 tour in Atlanta on August 13-15, just after the Tokyo Olympics. Players will vie for $200,000 in prize money, following the end of the Truist Atlanta Open at the same site. It’s a reunion of sorts for the beach volleyball organization, as players will duke it out in the city where the sport was first introduced on the Olympic stage in 1996.
