ATLANTA, June 9, 2008 - The Millennium Gate will officially open its doors Friday, July 4, 2008. Ticket holders will be given the opportunity to tour the gate at 2pm following a parade and dedication ceremony taking place at 12:30pm.  Tickets to the Millennium Gate are on sale and can be purchased at Museumtix.com ($12 for adults, $10 for students/children). Normal museum hours are 10am-6pm Tuesday through Sunday...

H&M Grand opening at Atlantic Station

Want summer fashion for cheap? Then you should head over to H&M Atlantic Station. The inspiration for the summer collection is from Asia and Africa. This past weekend H&M gave away complimentary H&M T-shirts and gift cards ranging from $10 to $500 dollars. New Motorcycle Policy

After receiving a number of complaints from Atlantic Station residents and guests about the noise and disruptions caused by motorcycles, a policy is now in place that prohibits motorcyclists from riding through and parking in the main retail district in Atlantic Station. However, we welcome motorcyclists to park in Target, IKEA or on-street parking spaces throughout Atlantic Station outside of the main retail district. Much of this parking is well within walking distance of all Atlantic Station stores, restaraunts and entertainment options. This policy applies to motorcycles only and does not apply to mopeds or scooters with engines smaller than 150 cc...

Eco-daycare centre introduces toddlers to 'green'

ATLANTA — There are plenty of signs that FIO 360 isn't the typical daycare centre, but perhaps most telling are the blue slippers visitors wear to keep out chemicals they might track in on their shoes.

Then there's the custom-made organic mattresses free of formaldehyde and other chemicals, imported organic wool rugs, organic wooden toys and hormone-free meals made by an in-house chef with - you guessed it - organic foods....

Standing atop his 82-foot, classically inspired triumphal arch, Rodney Mims Cook Jr. surveys its neighbors--an Ikea, a Target (nyse: TGT - news - people ), a four-lane highway and many, many condos. Cook's arch, called Millennium Gate, sits where an Atlanta steel mill used to. When it opens in May it will be the biggest classical monument erected in the U.S. since 1943, when the Jefferson Memorial opened on the National Mall in Washington, D.C....

Atlantic Station snags Buckhead spa

Anyone seeking an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city will appreciate the appearance of Nani Salon & Spa in Atlantic Station. The Aveda concept salon has relocated from its Buckhead digs to a second-floor perch on 19th Street.

Nani offers everything from facials and massages to hair and nail services, including packages such as the three-hour Mamas to Be treatment for expectant mothers ($190) and the Bali Getaway for Two, a $610 treatment for couples that includes massage, facial, body polish and lunch...

Metro Atlanta ranks 14th among 30 walkable cities

By one new measure of walkability, metro Atlanta is middle of the road. Or, depending on where you are, middle of the sidewalk.

The region ranked 14th among the 30 largest American metropolitan areas in a survey of walkable urban places released Tuesday by the Brookings Institution. The think tank based in Washington, D.C. put it's home city at the top of the list, followed by Boston, San Francisco, Denver and Portland...

Atlantic Station wants you to go carless

Atlantic Station opened what they say is the nation's first "commuter cafe," designed as a clearinghouse for transportation alternatives aimed at the approximately 11,000 people who live and work within the mixed-use development.

"Atlanta is a city where we're conditioned to drive," said Brian Leary, vice president of AIG Global Investment Real Estate, which developed Atlantic Station. "We want a community where you're conditioned to walk."...
